Joe Hunt (b. 2000) is a composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter. . .  is a musician born in Hertfordshire and based in Manchester, studying composition at the Royal Northern College of Music under Steven Daverson and Sam Salem. His compositions draw from many sources, including spectralism, musique concrete instrumentale, ambient and electronic music. His digital skills as a producer are reflected in his compositions, film scores, albums and the library of collaborative beats he co-writes and produces.

Joe grew up on classic rock music, picking up the guitar at age seven. He started his musical career in small bands taking a leading role in writing music, and developing improvisaitonal and compositional skills before taking an interest in music academically. Largely self-taught, Joe's compositional style grew from experimentation with DAWs and the groups he was a part of, as well as online resources.

Interested in music's ability to affect emotions, Joe believes that a deep understanding of musical forces such as harmony, texture and rhythm could be used to make a profound impression on a listener's feelings.

With aspirations for a career scoring media such as movies, television and video games, Joe applied to the RNCM for 2020, where his explorations into contemporary classical music under Steven Daverson have broadened his palette of harmony and texture. Since studying at RNCM, Joe has taken an interest in spectralism and synthesis, and Virtual Reality as a means of spatialising music, and providing a new way for consumers to engage with music.

Joe is a member of the prog-rock band Signifying Nothing.
